Lessons learned

I'm grading ... again ... midterms ... again ....

[sigh]

On the plus side, I constantly learn from my students. Let me share with you a few of the gems I've picked up today from them.

  1. All plants have the same shape because they're descended from a common ancestor - seeds.
  2. Wearing glasses changes your DNA.
  3. Tatoos are caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. [I'm still scratching my head over this one.]
  4. We have disease-resistant drugs, which change over time. [Also perplexing.]
  5. If there were intelligent life in the universe, there would be amino acids on Mars.
  6. Carbon isotopes are visible to the naked eye.
  7. It is not actually necessary to read a question before attempting to answer it.
  8. I am a total failure as a teacher. [sigh]
