This is just a quick note to let you know I was nowhere near yesterday's bombing.
Yes, Islamic Cairo is my favorite part of town and I've spent many afternoons touring the bazaar and throwing back a few coffees at Fishawi's.
Mostly I feel sorry for the people of Egypt on this one. It's never the criminals who suffer when something stupid and random like this happens. Instead it's the locals (what will happen to business at the bazaar for awhile? will it even be open?) and the tourists (can you say even more movement restrictions?) who suffer while the criminals get publicity and the government flexes its muscles.
Life goes on here, and I can only hope nothing changes significantly.
