Cairo's going crazy!!! Egypt's just won the Africa cup again!

I hear fireworks, honking, screaming, shouting, and something that sounds suspiciously like gunfire. I could tell when the single goal was scored in the 79th minute - a surge of sound swelled up from the staid streets of Garden City.

All day today, Egyptian flags were flying from taxis, posted on doorways, carried by grown men in the street. This is happy, proud nationalism, without any taint of jingoism.

I imagine the ruckus is going to go on for hours. What a fun day to be here!
